Antonia Nedder, Music Director

Antonia has been active in the music ministry at St. Bart’s since 1992, first as a cantor and choir member and subsequently as an accompanist. She has been the St. Bart’s Youth Choir director since 2004, and has been Music Director for the parish since July of 2014. She received her Bachelors Degree from Dartmouth College and her law degree from Boston College Law School, and is proud to call herself a full time musician. She is a classically trained pianist and has served as an accompanist and musical director for various Boston area projects, including the St. Francis House homeless shelter in Boston where she directs a weekly music group. She sang with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, the official chorus for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, for eight years. She loves all things music, especially praise music, and is always looking for new and inspiring music to add to our liturgies.

Charlie Kanelos, Choir Director

Charlie is an avid musician with a background in piano, organ, and liturgical music for the last 44 years. Presently, he is the Director of the Saint Bartholomew Adult Choir and also Organist and Cantor. In addition, Charlie has been employed by the Boston Public School Department for the last 28 years; he is currently the Coordinator of Special Education and Student Services at the Jackson Mann School in Allston, MA. Along with his music and school responsibilities, Charlie is also a realtor with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. Make no mistake about it, if you cross his path he WILL ask you to join the choir! He is dedicated and passionate about the work that he does never underestimating the ability of the choir. “Our role in accompanying the action of the liturgy through music, is to assist the congregation in singing the Lord’s praises, with the hopes of elevating prayer and worship to deeper levels transcending into a spiritual communion with God”.

Jennifer Foster, Director of Religious Education

Jen attended St. Anselm College for undergraduate studies where she earned a BA in the Liberal Studies of the Great Books with a minor in Catholic Studies. After a break to do a year of AmeriCorps service, and some time working in development and fundraising, Jen returned to school, studying Medieval Philosophy and Theology and earning her MA from Boston College. She is passionate about teaching our youth about the Catholic faith, helping them to grow biowrap in their relationship with God, and doing crafts!

Maryellen Jennings, Coordinator of Religious Education for Grades K-6

Maryellen graduated from Newbury Junior College. Maryellen has taught First Communion Class for over 15 years and has been an active parishioner for many years. She resides in Needham with her husband and three daughters. She is passionate about teaching the Catholic faith, to our young people, helping them to grow biowrap in their relationship with God.

Andrea Fidurko, Religious Education Assistant

Andrea works part-time keeping the Religious Education program organized, and helping out with classes and activities. She also fills in wherever needed. Additionally, she is a loving mom and is always knowledgeable about Needham sports!

Kathy Whitney, Office Assistant

Kathy graduated from St. Bartholomew Elementary School then went on to get her BS in education at Westfield State. She married her high school (Catholic Memorial) sweetheart at St. Bartholomew. After 15 years of moving around with the US Navy, Kathy, Bill and Dennis returned to Needham and St. Bartholomew. After 32 years as a legal secretary in Needham – guess what? – she returned to St. Bartholomew on a part time basis as the Friday Office Assistant. She is also actively involved in the parish choir and social club as well as various Needham social outreach organizations. The family has a great love and devotion for this parish and after 57 years in Needham still calls St. Bartholomew “home”.
