A Note from Fr. Derek

Celebrating Easter without being able to go to Mass. This seems such a strange thing. Today’s feast is so central to our faith that it seems so odd for us to be   separated. It is our faith that unites us, and most especially our faith that Jesus Christ has risen from the dead, that has united Christians from the first days after the  resurrection. So central to our lives is the belief that Jesus has trampled the curse of death that it is this day when we usually renew our baptismal promises. Those baptismal promises are a statement of the Creed – of what it is we believe as  Christians. Faith is not simply a feeling, but it is something that can be articulated. As we celebrate this Easter in the midst of this coronavirus let us bear in mind that while we might be separated by social distancing, we are united by what believe and, more importantly, in whom we believe: Jesus Christ is Lord and he is risen from the dead!
