Congratulations to Marty Cunniffe, Cheverus Award Recipient.
In 2008, during the bicentennial year for the Archdiocese of Boston, Cardinal Sean instituted the Cheverus Award, which is given to members of the lay faithful and religious throughout the Archdiocese for their quiet and dedicated service to the Church in various ways. Each parish has a recipient every three years. So many people bear witness to their faith at St. Bart’s in so many different ways that there are many examples of selfless giving. I want to congratulate Mr. Martin Cunniffe for having been chosen by Cardinal Sean to receive this award next week at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. Our parish has benefited from Marty’s service in many ways over the years. From his previous time on the Parish Pastoral Council and his leading our singing at Masses and participation in the Adult Choir to the less-visible ways he serves such as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion to the hospital as well as his visits to those at Briarwood or simply caring for the flowers outside of our front doors, Marty has demonstrated his great love of serving the Lord and his brothers and sisters. Please join me in congratulating Marty in his receiving this honor.
