Christ is Risen! He is truly risen! On behalf of all the staff at St. Bartholomew’s I want to wish you all a blessed Easter. Today we celebrate the triumph of Jesus Christ over sin and death as we recall his resurrection from the dead. For forty days we have been preparing for this during Lent. Such is the importance of this feast that we celebrate for fifty days – outdoing the period of our preparation – which takes us to Pentecost on June 9th. Today we also renew our baptismal promises – the promises which, for most of us, were made for us by our promises. In this renewal, we once again make these promises our own by seeking to avoid the lures and temptations of the Enemy and keep the eyes of our hearts and minds focused on the things of heaven, mindful that life with Christ in heaven is the truest desire of our hearts. Let us go forth from our celebration today mindful of this and seeking to grow ever closer to Jesus in this life so that we may be prepare to live with him forever on the day of the resurrection of our own bodies.
